The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is the new standard qualification and replaces the Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) This is a 36 credit course and is the equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. Our teaching staff hold the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or the Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) together with Internal Verifier (IV) qualifications.
Candidates will undertake an action research project in an area relevant to their own specialism. The teaching practice will run concurrently with the course and students will need to evidence this through schemes of work, lesson plans, evaluations and resources. Students will be expected to work independently at home. Home study usually takes at least five hours per week and forms an essential part of the course.
Who Should Attend/Entry Requirements
Individuals who would like to work or currently work in Further Education Colleges, Independent Training Providers, and/ or Local Authorities. This is a Level 4 Qualification, students will be required to demonstrate the ability to complete written assignments and to study at this level.
Applicants do not require any formal entry qualifications; however, a level 3 qualification (e.g. A-level) in the subject they wish to teach is desirable along with good levels of language, literacy, numeracy and should be IT literate.
Candidates will undertake an initial diagnostic assessment in literacy and numeracy prior to joining the programme and must have access to 30 hours of teaching practice (Europrime Consulting & Associates Limited can assist with teaching hours).
Learners will be expected to apply and show evidence of both theoretical and practical knowledge, this will be achieved by the completion of a portfolio. The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training QCF aims to develop practical teaching skills and prepares teachers to work in a wide range of contexts. The qualification will give candidates the necessary understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in relation to aspects such as:

There are five mandatory units which will be completed prior to one additional unit:
Unit 1: Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
Unit 2: Planning to Meet the Needs of Learners in Education and Training
Unit 3: Delivering Education and Training
Unit 4: Assessing Learners in Education and Training
Unit 5: Using Resources for Education and Training
Developing, using and organising resources within a specialist area
Candidates will be continuously assessed throughout the course by a combination of assignments and observation of teaching or training. Students are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of teaching practice/experience as part of this qualification to meet the requirements above. Assessment is subject to external verification. Successful candidates will be awarded the Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training (QCF).
